Jaden,
No I’m not saying that… you will be using firewire to import from the camera into your PC always! No matter what your goal is. Firewire is the physical layer (Cable) of choice to give you the least amount of loss and the fastest import speed with tap or flash based systems.
Again you need to have a camera that supports all this. These little Flip HD units out there dont apply to all of this.
Take care and keep up the good work!

Are you saying it is not a good idea to directly connect firewire with WMM? I use to use a tape, now I just plug right in to WMM.
Great Video. I have been struggling with myself about the way I dress for video. You said you need to figure out who you are on the call last night. That comment has been on my mind all day.

This video was produced correctly out of the other 3 identical videos we produced. From the camera it was imported, as1080i in this case, into Windows Movies Maker. We then moved it to Camtasia for “Call Outs” and produced it in full HD.
NOTE: you can do call outs directly in Windows Movie Maker. We’re showing the more advanced step of using Camtasia software in addition to WMM.
Camtasia will not allow a direct import from tape unless a direct firewire connection is present.(not recommended)
