twitter.com - I was fortunate to be a keynote speaker last week at the LeWeb conference in Paris. It was definitely an amazingly well put-together conference. I cannot express enough gratitude to Loic and Geraldine for making us all more than comfortable during our stay. I did happen to notice one thing during the conference that bothered me a bit, so I decided I wanted to talk to you about it. Twitter tends to play a large role during conferences. However, I’m not so sure it’s a good thing …

Listen to yourself..Chris…stop crying… you can’t be the center of attention all the time
AshyKnux | December 26th, 2009 at 7:13 am #
my point exactly……
iTeets | December 26th, 2009 at 7:13 am #
If you wanna play online, then just stay home. LOL.

If I were to go to a conference; I wouldn’t bring anything with me but my brain and attention. If you’re distracted with the internet, twitter, etc… then you’re not going to pay attention. You can hear the words and write them down, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you are paying attention or fully comprehending what is being spoken. It IS disrespectful and kind of depressing to see everyone at gnomedex typing away when the whole point of being there was to LISTEN to speakers.

I couldn’t agree with you more Chris. It reminds me of trolls on the Internet. Never anything positive to say.
I think Twitter also ties into distractions at school. Students are always texting instead of listening to the teacher. It seems so disrespectful to do that. Same thing with Twitter.

He starts monologuing! He starts like, this prepared speech about how *feeble* I am compared to him, how *inevitable* my defeat is, how *the world* *will soon* *be his*, yadda yadda yadda.

I think you are right abut Twitter I no Conferences can drag on same time but if your are on twitter more then taken same sort of notes of the conferences I do not think you should be there because if you take same sort of notes of the Conferences you mite learn same think even if it not much but it could be yours full for you.

I guess if the traffic is tight enough to see that there are no cops around to catch him
BuekiOvRMD | December 26th, 2009 at 7:13 am #
I thought it was even not legal while in traffic, but he is moving just not fast.
giabar | December 26th, 2009 at 7:13 am #

i love the way all the comments are about the legality of how the video was taken, instead of the actual point of the video lol a bit ironic. but good video, good points well made, if people don’t have anything nice to say they shouldn’t say anything at all! some people just dont appreciate the effort that is put into arranging events like this.

everytime you make videos from your car, with that light on. All I can picture is “large marge” from pee wee’s big adventure.

sJeGaJn | December 26th, 2009 at 7:13 am #
don’t worry he wasn’t really being direct and to the point … it was dramatic overplay XD
sJeGaJn | December 26th, 2009 at 7:13 am #
I’m pretty sure he’s not moving
sJeGaJn | December 26th, 2009 at 7:13 am #
yes it is illegal to have your interior light on while driving (in most states) … but if you study the traffic outside his window you will come to the conclusion that he’s not moving
