Behind Beyond Web 2.0

Our first screencast YouTube video is finished and can be found here: www.youtube.com Originally, I showed more Web 2.0 applications, but decided to cut them to increase the pace of the video. So I posted this “director’s cut” of the first part of it. Aeric had a hard time underscoring it, seeking music that was both inspirational and legal to use. Me, it took only three seconds to decide to use “Le Tigre - Deceptacon”. Why? Because I can! If this video seems familiar, then you have probably …

Nice Nice Video. I really loved your video. Youtube can be a great asset for you. If you need any help getting your video exposed, check out this site called tubeviews [dot net] It has really done wonders for me, I have built 3 Channels up with videos at top in position and this is my forth channel i’m going to working on.
These Services Are Mind Blowing!

Keep in mind that this is a deleted scene from the main video and not to be taken out of context.
Saying I am against machines would be like saying that I am against airplanes because I like to take walks.

Those who rest will rust.

Say, did I detect an anti-machine theme in this video? It’s in Web 2.0, Deceptacon (”gasoline gut”), Wikipedia - The Machine That Changed the World? The would could do with a little more critical thinking about what we are doing. It’d be advisable not to just parrot everything we hear but to look a little deeper and check things out before we leap.

Is this Gaeri gone wild? Thanks for turning me on to Le Tigre and Camstudio. I’ve been wanting to do the screen capture thing too.
celestialsam | December 29th, 2009 at 12:03 am #
Now, that was some interesting music. You’re so busy, Yang! Always doing something!
tr00b | December 29th, 2009 at 12:03 am #
Gracias, amigo! I’ve played with Camtasia but I’m a big fan of open source anything!

Definitely, a raise seems to be LONG overdue!
And Mr Winter is a bit of a diva, huh? I guess I’d never noticed that…
GaeriSummer | December 29th, 2009 at 12:03 am #
I hate it when I do that. *g*
GaeriSummer | December 29th, 2009 at 12:03 am #
I know. *s*
Have fun and don’t forget to let the other kids have their turn, too.
GaeriSummer | December 29th, 2009 at 12:03 am #
Of course I had to find and edit it.
All our diva, Mr. Winter, did, was print that lanyard label and film the vloggy footage at the end.
The rest of the video was all me! (I should ask for a raise, sometime…)

hahaha, just read your comment about staying amateur for the vlogolympics! Too busy giggling to write a proper comment lol!

I’m gonna have to go download and play with that software now you know!
DallasGuyZ | December 29th, 2009 at 12:03 am #
Yes, that Beyond Web 2.0 video was awesome. But really, Gaeri? Keeping your “amateur status”? Possibly for the SPECIAL vlogolympics? (LOL!)
Whoa, whoa, whoa… Don’t kill the messenger! It just had to be said. (c:
But yeah, I’m glad you…I mean Aeric was able to find that software!
GaeriSummer | December 29th, 2009 at 12:03 am #
Indeed, you are first! Hope you enjoyed Prof. Wesch’s video. It is one of my favourite clips on YouTube!

There are no coincidences.
Only those who plan and those who are being planned.
GaeriSummer | December 29th, 2009 at 12:03 am #
It took me over half an hour to mop up all the footprints I’d left behind on websites and applications after filming that video.
And I think mwesch’s final version of the video is even better than the first. Some might not see big diffs, though. Screencasting is quite dangerous really, in the way it promotes perfectionism.
GaeriSummer | December 29th, 2009 at 12:03 am #
You’ll have to talk to Aeric about that. He is the PRO vlogger. Me, I’m still keeping my amateur status so I can compete in the vlogolympics. *g*
As for the software, it is called CamStudio. Since it’s open source software you can download and use it for free. See the link in this video’s description.

I think andreas has a very good timing with his web 2.0 come together videos, hmm?!? ;-O
tr00b | December 29th, 2009 at 12:03 am #
Nice! I’m waiting for one of you PRO vloggers to do a similar vid on how you edit and create your masterpieces. *hint hint* The screen-vid software rules! What’d you use?
kazzart | December 29th, 2009 at 12:03 am #
And yes your twitters make sense now.
Squawk7600 | December 29th, 2009 at 12:03 am #
I had not seen “The Machine is Using Us” until just now. I agree; extremely good vid, must have taken a -huge- amount of time to come down to the final version!
kazzart | December 29th, 2009 at 12:03 am #
Yes when I first started watching this I immediately thought of “The Machine is Us/ing Us” vid. (Which is a great vid! Actually I think I haven’t seen the final version yet..) Nice work on the screencasting and editing!
