3 Successful Blog Marketing Tips

26 Jan, 2009  |  Posted by nancyperez  |  under Blog Marketing

You can no longer use the excuse that setting up a blog is too hard. Plenty of blogging software is available easily, and mostly free, taking the guesswork out of blog-building.

Today, assembling a blog is simple. What’s even more important, and much harder, is marketing your blog. To be successful, you must strengthen your marketing ability.

You might be able to entice visitors to your website initially, but how will you keep them coming back for more. Successful blog marketing helps you get higher search engine rankings, gain valuable links and increase the traffic to your site.

Use to following tips to get your blog on the right marketing track.

Tip #1- RSS Your Blog

Just because your blog is live, don’t assume visitors know about it. Imagine your blog is a nice sized chalk board sitting in your basement. How do you get it out of the basement and onto the sidewalk? That’s where RSS feeds come into play. RSS simply allows others to syndicate content from your blog to their blog or website. Using RSS feeds to promote your blog is an effective way to get your content noticed.

Websites offering song lyrics without permission are violating copyright laws and exposing themselves to claims of copyright infringement. Of course, IF youre displaying the lyrics in a manner that qualifies as fair use, youre not violating any copyright laws. But, like most fair use questions, thats a big, shaky, and potentially messy IF.

Song lyrics are protected by copyright law. Song lyrics are protected whether or not they are registered with the U.S. Copyright Office. They are protected whether they are used with or without an accompanying melody.

Your audience probably does not want more than that anyway. If you have creativity enough for three postings per day in you that is great, just bank them for posting later. Quality is always better than quantity. There is a balance and you will need to find it for yourself but focus on the reader and you will succeed.

The challenges that bloggers face are very real and bloggers need to be aware of that fact right out of the box. There is no getting around the issue that creativity tends to ebb and flow within everyone. This presents an ongoing need to be up to date on your subject as well as the need to be fresh and creative in your writing. I would caution against posting just to post. We all hate the person who rambles on and on about nothing. One post per day is sufficient.

How do you feel about the challenge bloggers face after writing dozens of blogs and start to have more and more less quality blogs just for the sake of posting a blog? What’s more important, fewer but more quality blogs or quantity but not as much quality? Some sites say you should post 2-3 blogs a day! While some actually do this, how can you come up with that many quality posts? What’s your take?

It depends on the situation. If you are the brand or something that you do is the value then promoting yourself is the best move. If not then promote the site within its genre.

Your blog looks pretty good. I would eliminate the music feed as it slow to load and jumpy when it does play. Also, be careful about the content you post. The article at the top of the list today was how to download from sites with a PayPal buy now button for free. This could be very good for traffic, but not so good for your personal reputation.

    David,
It’s the embedding of the you tube in the blog which slows things down. I think it’s better to refer people to the link on you tube so they can access the video on you tube. I’ve tested this and there are other blogspot blogs with embedded videos which slow down the computer. I have a four year old Pentium operating system on my computer, but I would guess that many of your readers may also have older operating systems as well. You could search google about this problem.
    Good luck

Oh Bummer! I did not know that. I also wonder if it is making a difference to my views. I will try using the youtube embed for the next several videos and let me know if it helps. Thank you for your positive comments.

Again a great video. I wanted to give you some feedback, however, about the suggestion to come and leave feedback at your blog. I visited the blog and for some reason when a blogger blog has embedded video it really slows up my computer. Your blog is not the first to do this to me. And I wonder if you are loosing traffic and helpful comments because of it.
