Wired responded to inquires about why there were no women and/or people of color on their tech panel that they couldn’t find them but will try harder next time. Twitter community had a response and a petition. (act.ly ~ you can sign it also) This is a video to give Wired some tips and steps they can use to make it a little easier next time.

You did a good job of approaching the topic with a fair and objective voice. However, seeding a panel, intentionally, to be diverse is equally as unjustified as seeding it to be all white and male. Such a practice would be intentional gender bias.
Point being, Wired shouldn’t be criticized for this. I think a more proactive approach would be to encourage non-white and non-male professionals to volunteer for more panels.
Just a thought.

It should be required that all panels speaking before ANY organization represent that audience. So - 50% of any given population is female, correct? Please, give us the chance to represent and present technology, social media, new media, and many other topics. This chance is only fair, and it is soooo overdue! Thanks!!

Yes! Happy dance of social media recognition of power.
