Desktop Greenscreen (Canon T2i, Camtasia, After Effects)

Trial of the Canon T2i (550) for chromakey effects. I shot this in my office in front of a greenscreen – a blanket from Army Surplus. The background video was also with the Canon. Getting video from the camera to the computer is a little awkward and requires Canon’s proprietary EOS Utility application. So, unlike a camcorder, you cannot pull live video right into Camtasia. I removed the green backdrop using Adobe After Effects Keylight and then imported the resulting footage back into Camtasia, setting the stage to 1920 x 1080. Rendering took about 1 hour per minute. Notice how the lighting in the two scenes is synched up a little with the brightest light shining down from the top right. I captured the low-res video on the Mac’s iSight camera and recorded sound with the Blue Yeti. Links for more info: www.thefoundry.co.uk camtasia-tutorials.blogspot.com www.bluemic.com
