Dude, if you’re able to tether your phone you are literally turning your phone into a wireless hotspot. Meaning you can connect your laptop or any other phone with wifi abilities to your g1 phone and surf the internet using 3g or Edge network. This is the shit you want haha

Correction. It turns your phone into a “wireless router” emitting a Wi-Fi Signal To your device.

A few details on how I connected:

After PDANet installed on my PC turned on my G1 to install applications via USB (per the pop up window that appears during the software install.) This tells the G1 it is OK to install apps via “outside sources via USB.”

After the software installed on the PC, connected G1 with USB cable.

Windows will recognize new device or app. Told it to install everything automatically.

On G1 turn on PDANet FIRST, then press “connect” icon on the desktop.

Holy SHEET! The T-Mobile rep said that I could not tether the phone with my new G1 (as I had been doing with my BlackBerries.) WRONG!!!!!! This worked perfect.

To those who don’t know what this is: it means you can use your G1 as a modem for your notebook or desktop computer! If your notebook is on the road and you have WiFi on the G1, you can connect the phone to the notebook or netbook computer and use the G1 as an internet connection.

    I’m a happy camper.
