Gov’t to use Twitter to solicit public opinions
Gov’t to use Twitter to solicit public opinions The Japanese government says it will use the Twitter Internet communication service to solicit public opinions and reflect them in policy making. The government made the decision in view of the popularity of Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama’s Twitter page, where he has been posting short messages almost every day since January. Whenever he posts a message, it instantly draws several hundred responses. The British government is already using the micro-blogging service as a way to seek public opinion on such topics as how to make London more exciting. The government plans to start implementing Twitter as early as next month. 2010/03/21 02:05(JST) (JST: UTC+9hrs.) www.nhk.or.jp
