Is This how you Set up Your Webcam?

23 Feb, 2009  |  Posted by  |  under Set-Up

http://live.pirillo.com - Yes, I’m sitting in the dark. I don’t understand why so many people record without turning on regular lights… expecting the glow from their monitors to outline them. I’ve got a top five list on how to set up your webcam for maximum recording power. This was sent in by Flyaxe.

The one that winds me up no end is people who waffle on and on and on, and refuse to get to the point. not only is this a waste of my time, but also of my precious download limit, only for them to finally make a point that usually doesn’t have any point to it at all anyway. That and people who move their cam to get something else in shot, but don’t hold the camera still to let the viewer focus on what their trying to show them.

If you don’t want to clean your room, use a backdrop. Or just shove it all off camera.

There is another Freeware webacm software for windows called SuperWebCam. Works great and using both ManyCam and SuperWebCam together you can get some great effects. Camtwist and WebCam Max have great development though both of the free applications claim that they are working on updates.

I would presume by “Older TV” we are talking vacuum tube TV sets. Those throw off a bunch of EM. Also CRTs tend to throw up a decent amount of EM due to the whole electro magnet in the back of the picture tube. I don’t have that issue with my webcam but I’ve run a mic cable around a CRT and gotten a significant signal lose as a result.

Remember you don’t need the most expensive light, you just need one pointed on you.
