I don’t know if I fully believe that. If you listen to his old radio shows his friend Matt Morgan accuses his of sounding like he is from Oliver Twist or something. And that was way before America.
Although he certainly plays it up in America and talks a bit slower and a quite bit less coarsely he doesn’t sound substantially different. At least I don’t think so…
I think you have to say everything that he says when promoting himself with a pinch of salt, not believe him verbatim.
