Agreed, except I don’t particularly care for Glover’s voice. Living Color just remind me of Extreme, Kings X and a whole bunch of other late-80’s light rock bands.

I like Living Colour and love Corey GLover’s voice, but I don’t think they really are great song writers and certainly not prolific.

I love how u stated that!! LOL.. its deinitely something u have to be born with dont just get up one day and decide you wanna write a song.. from ppl that i know who THINK they can write.. they try it out then it sounds like shit, they reallize it sounds like shit and then they get frustrated. This is my passion so its easier to relate with what vernon is saying, it is a very frustrating job. I know I’m not famous but my best advice could be BACKGROUND VOCALS!!! they make the song sound full!

yeah I know i’d like to be able to focus more on his talking and not the background music. They could’ve just turned the music down a notch and his voice would’ve come through so much better.

check this dude out too. he is the lead guitar player for ‘living color’ (the tv show was ‘in living color’ and is unrelated). he plays my number one favorite guitar solo in any song - put into youtube ‘cult of personality’ and check out the two guitar solos (1:35 & 3:01). they sound like fire to me; barely controlled chaos, but still perfect. at the end of the second one, you can hear him whack the open srings and let it ring out. cool

That’s the way I like it is Zen? Never thought so. Songs come to me many times as complete. I mean verses and chorus. They are so different it’s almost scary to think about where they’re coming from. If I have an idea that isn’t working it’s usually because it’s not worth writing and for me not worth building a catalouge of idea or licks that didn’t make it.

Oh, writing songs is kinda funny. we make em up that’s all plain and simple. either you gotta feel for it or you don’t. and either you got access to all the gizmoes and biz connections. you got it made. blah blah blah.

What he said about focusing to hard and losing the inspiration does happen to some. Stepping back sometimes could actually help ya finish the tune and bring back the heart. Good to know.
